The Kodak THERMAL DIRECT Plate deliver the resolution and imaging accuracy of thermal, digital plates without processing. Kodak THERMAL DIRECT Plates eliminate the installation, management or maintenance of the traditional wet-chemical plate processing system. This eliminates cost, as well as a source of variability the processor and thus improves the overall stability of the digital platemaking process.
Plate
Write-the-image, thermal digital plate; develop on press
Application
Short- or medium-run sheetfed applications
Image contrast
Medium blue/gray – for visual identification only, not suitable for plate dot reader measurements. 12-point type is readable for determining press cylinder placement.
Latent image stability
Under dark storage conditions, the imaged plate may be kept up to 2 weeks prior to going on press.
Spectral sensitivity
800 – 850nm
Laser energy required
325 mJ/sq cm
Resolution
1% to 99% @ 175 lpi; 1% to 98% @ 200 lpi.Dependent on capability of imaging device.
FM capability
25 micron stochastic. Dependent on screening algorithms.
(For optimum FM performance, Kodak recommends STACCATO Screening on KODAK SQUARESPOT Imaging Devices
Run length
100,000 impressions
(Actual run length may vary according to press, ink and paper conditions)
Safelight
The plate can be handled before and after imaging safely for up to 1 hour under white light and 4 hours under yellow light.
