Features of PressView

The Features of PressView offer the ideal solution for full control of the colours of your printed job. Analyse your print with a spectrophotometer and then take the necessary actions to keep within the desired tolerance levels, then generate a report for your customer or own use. PressView is a typical tool for the Quality Assurance Manager of a print company, a visual tool to present data of printed colours in a convenient way. The product can be used to measure colour information of your prints and see if the quality of your print job is sufficient and if the colours are within the required ISO12647 standard or other required standard. PressView supports multiple spectrophotometer devices, e.g. Techkon SpectroDens, Techkon SpectroDrive, Techkon RS400/800 and X-Rite i1.

Colour Gamut

With the PressView gamut overview screen, all the important information is presented on the screen on a clear and simple way. You can easily analyze colour gamut, luminance per colour, TVI and grey balance and quickly decide what correction is needed on the printing press. The gamut view in PressView is a unique tool with which you can easily understand and work with spectral colour information. A essential tool  if you want to work according to the ISO12647 standard!

Process Control

PressView can really speed up the measurement process at the press. If you use either the Techkon RS800 or the new SpectroDrive, PressView will measure all individual ink zones in just seconds. Then, all information on how to adjust the ink ducts is presented on screen. Ink zone specific corrections are based upon our ChromaPlus technology, giving you the best possible colour match in no-time. If you want, density based corrections are also available.

Proof Certification

Spectral control and certification of digital proofs are part of the PressView system. If the proof is certified, you can print a label with all the necessary information and stick it on the certified proof. You can also use the spectral data of the certified proof as reference for the final print process. This all makes the printing process clear and efficient.

Press Calibration

Press Calibration is the whole process of bringing the printing press to a certain standard e.g. ISO12647-2, given a specific paper and ink combination, determine the correct ink layer thickness and calculate the corresponding CTP curves. This Press Calibration is often done based on a specific print test form.

You need to do a Press Calibration to get to ISO12647.

With PressView you can easlily do a Press Calibration. You will have all the information of your printing press to help you through the standardization process.

Printability Test

A unique feature only available with PressView, when working with colour standards like ISO12647, one of the most difficult quests is to find out how good a particular combination of paper and ink complies to the chosen standard. Also, we normally measure printed sheets in 'wet' condition, while all standards are based on dry measured sheets. Your customer will of course also measure dry results!

PressView's unique printability test, lets you analyse the exact colour behavior for a given ink and paper combination. It takes about 6 minutes to measure a complete paper and ink combination. PressView then knows the best colour match and how ink will dry back. The result is stored in the PressView database and automatically used whenever you measure the same combination again. PressView's printability test completely takes out the guesswork in colour quality!

ChromaPlus Technology

In our daily practice, we try to work with delta-E colour differences but based only on a delta-E value, we cannot determine if a colour is to bright or dark,  or to yellow or blue. Although CIE-Lab and CIE-XYZ are already very helpful when analysing the spectral behavior of a colour, it is not enough to give you a clear guide on how to correct a colour.

One of the hidden technologies in PressView is ChromaPlus technology. ChromaPlus analyses every aspect of a given colour before it calculates a correction. This extended analysis of a colour assures you with the best corection for that specific colour. It simply replaces the complexity of 'needing to be a colour scientist' in your printroom.

ChromaPlus works in close harmony with PressView's Printability test so that we can calcultate the exact colour correction for any paper and ink combination, including the exact dry back of the wet printing inks.

CTP Curves

Do you want to get to ISO12647? When you use the right strip, it is very easy to calculate the optimum CTP-curve compensation for use in the CTP-system RIP. PressView generates all necessary information to determine the correct ink layer thickness and calculate the corresponding CTP compensation curves.

XML all the way

Under the hood PressView communicates completely in XML. The database, colour engine main application and the interface, everything talks XML to each other. This will open up all capabilites to commuicate with external applications via industry standards like JDF.

Reporting

With PressView Business you can generate certifying reports for any print job. A proofreport on a label or a multi page exensive report in pdf can be very important if a customer is not satisfied with the printed result or if you need proof whether your print is inside or outside (your own chosen or ISO12647) standard.

Custom Colour Libraries

Managing your customers expectations is what it's all about. Did you ever wonder about the following: The printing industry measures and analysis CMYK solid colours, some dotgain patches and sometimes even graybalances. Your customer is more interested in housestyle and product colours no matter how they where produced (e.g. process or spot colour).

In PressView, you can manage the important colours for your client via the built-in custom colour libraries. It simply ensures you (and your colleages)  that you always use the correct colour reference for that client. You can use the library when evaluating both spot and process colours! By using PressView's custom colour libraries you manage those important customer colours like no other.

Supported Devices

X-Rite i1
For professional standard colour management, the i1 from X-Rite is an ideal starting point. The i1 spectrophotometer is the industry standard for accurate colour measurement and high quality profiling. Photographers, designers and other colour professionals can profile their entire system.

Techkon SpectroDens
The SpectroDens is your all-purpose, modern measurement device for every application from pre-press to print. Whether it be in pre-print for verifying proofs, for ongoing quality control at the printing press, during delivery inspection of paper and print products or in a colour lab, SpectroDens is exceptionally suitable, whatever your application. More.

Techkon RS800
PressView supports the RS800 handscan spectral measuring device from Techkon. More.

Techkon SpectroDrive
The new TECHKON SpectroDrive, with its automatic colour and density measurement capabilities is the perfect solution to substantially increase press productivity by ensuring consistent print-to-print colour accuracy throughout the press run. More.

For other measurement devices not listed please contact us as we are continually add ing more drivers to support more spectrophotometers and densitometers.

Management Module

With the PressView Management module, you have full control of the use of PressView in your company. You can select and define all settings including control users and their level of control, define paper and ink types, add new or use the supplied colour standards, add custom colour libraries.

The PressView Management module comes with all PressView II products. PressView Online uses a Management module with limited functionality.

Infrastructure

PressView is a client server based application running on a PC workstation or on an Intel-based Mac. You can use PressView as a ‘stand-alone’ solution on a PC or use it as a client, with continuous connection with a separate in-house PressView server or an external PressView server. The latter has a clear advantage that people can easily login and consult PressView from any place in the world at any time.
All PressView clients will have access to another so called “PressView Exchange Server”. This server takes care of updates, values and information on ISO standards, information on paper and ink, all available print strips and colour bars for use with PressView.
